To keep in touch with your tango steps!

It was a frustrating experience when I couldn't find back to a loved youtube figure I had seen a month or a year earlier. The solution below has been running for three years now and it has helped me many times so far! Some periods I don't use it at all and then suddenldly it is updated with several new lines per night.  It is allways visible and easy to access! I hope it will save time for you too!

I am a PC user and the collection is created on a google spreadsheet. On the screenprint below you find the headings and labels which have helped me to identify a video clip again. Most of my links are from youtube but facebook items and other internet addresses can be saved also.

This spreadsheet is for instant records, to save the moves I like when surfing around. I have created separate sheets for the figures from workshops and one for my teachers observations and advices. I have this split because the number of entries is growing surpricingly fast on each of these sections!

This is the version I use  for the collection! The column headings and labels you find here have served me well during the years.

To manage this collection of links I use some basic functions you find below but the most important of them is to create a backup every now and then!

Watch the video or read the text!

Your choice!  :)

EASY ACCESS and FILTERS

To have easy access I have placed an icon on the bookmarks bar - when the site is open you just drag the icon to the bar as shown on the picture. Ater that you will easily find the site and save your new steps. When my collection had grown to contain several hundreds of rows the filtering function has helped me out! I use the most simple version of it and it is very intuitive at that level. You create a filter by placing the cursor on the row for column titles and via DATA menue you find the option! At the same place you can get rid of it and reactivate it again later.

FREEZE the HEADINGS

Frozen headings have also been easy to apply. It keeps the column heads as well as the lable suggestions visible when the collection grows!

Put the cursor on the row number you want to keep visible and make the rest in VIEW menue

TIMESTAMPS

When you save a youtube address with timestamp you will land on the figure right away.
Facebook offers the same; addresses with timestamp!

Right click the video window and choose the time option!

BACKUP ! ! !

One terribly day in the future a backup can be useful to have and it is easy to fix today! I just send my figure collection, library and teacher notes to another email address. All in one mail as an EXCEL file.  That's all!

Basic training for March - April 2017

After all the years I have been training I got the best idea: do something for your upper body!  (hmm!) With some help from my friends at Fitnessblender and two water bottles!

Pilates from Germany!

She is a little bit rough! At the end she says: ...  ein bisshen warm geworden!
Yes I was kind of sweaty and exhausted!

Basic training for May - June 2016

These will be my basic training sessions for the period!

Monday and Saturday it will be pilates as usual. This is quite heavy on the stomach and I hope some effects then!

For Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday one workout from Fittnesblender. In quite short time she/they got over 6 milj views so we have a lot company here if you too join the crowd!

I have been exercising with these ladies for 10 days now and I am fully happy with our mornings!

The Fittnesblender cardio was so great! It is not only my opinion but during the weeks the  view count went up over one milion to 7.3milion. If you try this one you will agree that this workout is worth the time!

On other side I had serious problems with the pilates choice. The moves were ok but her voice started bugg med more and more so I was happy when my traveling gave me an accuse to skip her for the last few times. She had a kind of add on; it sounded like an old door needing some oil when it moves. I have heard that this kind of pronanciation is a modern phenomenon, especially among the wimen. Anyhow if you can cope with it you get an ok workout with these ladies.

Basic training for July - August

With this July-August period I will close a whole year training! In September we will open a totally new training year.

For this period I have switched the fitness and pilates parts so there will be only two pilates days per week. I really need more fitness part

Pilates with Rene on Mondays and Saturdays!

Cardio will happen Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays!

If you don't find these two hard enough there is lot of alternatives take some of them!  :))

Comment 2014.08.30

This morning was the last day for these exercises and on Monday I will test a new set of movements. It has been a good period and I have done the training nearly every morning - traveling days excluded.

I totally love the FitnesBlenders serie - the lady in yellow T-shirt - it is so well done and my body is stretched and stronger after the training. I will pick one of their work-outs for next period too!

The pilates workout has been ok but quite boring. I have skipped the back plank - you are sitting on the floor and then lifting your hips up having your weight on hands and heels. I got some back pain during the period and it disappeared when I skipped this movement.

What is rhythm made of?

Moi my friend!
Here we have some background for our coming studies in rythm and steps.

This English serie about music has already been helpful for me to get an idea of the different building blocks for the rhythm in music. These aspects have not been easy to understand so I have watched these programs several times. I found these three first section to be the most important - to tell the truth I couldn't resist but I have watched the rest too ;)

Can you now hear puls in music or what are the accents?
What is the tempo?
How is syncopation created?

2012 August 20 - 31 Training: Follow the music by drawing, checking the changes

Work along with me and refresh facts about tango structure!

Tango structure; phrases and parts. To begin with I will try to find the differences for the petals of this tango flower, listen!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A6X49jA7M0

To draw what you hear is not an artistic thing but it helps to concentrate. At home I can use pen and paper but on bus it will be with my finger on my bag, or something!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlDShx_jSJA

After that it will be nice to work on some songs from Carlitos and Noelias performances, but on a traditional way; on timing! I will write down the time (1:24 and so on) when the music changes. The most important thing here is that we learn to pay attention when the music changes.

2012 July - Summer training

During this training period I will focus on basic musicality awarenes, which includes the rhythm and differences in tones.

Solfege for rhythms
I will use a free program called Solfege to work with the rhythm recognition. It will be 10 mins per day and 4 days per weeks. I have run this exercie some times earlier starting with the easy rhythms but I still have difficulties with the advanced ones. This time it will be those more difficult ones but only two sets per time.

Ear Toner for intervals
I just love this exercise where I try to understand how many notes there is inbetween the two notes sounding after each other. Even here 10 mins per day and 4 days a week.
